Superfeet Inserts - How do they help?
Many of our customers and participants benefit from wearing a rigid insert. But if you've never worn inserts before, or if you've only considered the gel styles in the past, then this may seem like a strange concept to you. So why do so many of our runners wear inserts?
What about the insert in the shoe already?
Shoes come with an insert already in them, so what is wrong with that? Truthfully - shoe companies spend about a dime to make a piece of foam that feels good when you first try the shoes on. The piece of foam wears out rather quickly.
Why is the insert hard?
Collapsing feet increase movement inside the shoe. This causes a less efficient stride, and intensifies stress on feet, ankles and knees. Additional stress can cause foot pain, fatigue and risk of injury.
With Superfeet Insoles
Feet are supported and stabilized, reducing stress on feet, ankles and knees. Stride becomes more efficient, reducing fatigue and risk of injury. Can help prevent and treat plantar fasciitis, heel pain and runner's knee.
How long will my Superfeet last?
Your Superfeet will last an average of 12 months of 500 miles. Some people may get more or less life from them based on a variety of factors, much like your running shoes. You are able to tell that your insoles need updating often times by how your feet, knees and/or back are feeling. You may also find visible stress on the heel cap of the insoles if you notice that the plastic has begun to bend and you see white discoloration of the insert.
How do I care for them?
If they are dirty or smelly, you can hand-wash them with mild soap in lukewarm water. Use an old toothbrush with soft bristles if needed. Rinse well, remove excess water with a soft towel and allow to air dry - but not near a heat source such as a vent. Do not machine wash or dry.
