Newton Running Form Clinic


The basic principles of running haven’t changed since centuries ago when our ancestors used running to hunt and gather food. Today, we still have the capacity to run naturally, but shoe designs—which have become thicker, cushier and heavier with greater heel heights—and hard, cement surfaces have allowed us to pick up bad habits. 
To improve running efficiency, and thereby reduce the chance of injury, Newton Running recommends several running techniques that can unlock big improvements and compliment the Newton ride.

  • POSTURE:  Stand tall, with a slight lean forward.
  • POSITION:  Foot should land level to the ground.
  • CADENCE:  Take quick steps, targeting 180 steps/minute.
