Fall Marathon Training
MARATHON TRAINING PROGRAM

Ready to take on the full 26.2 miles? If you have run 13 miles then you are ready to join our marathon training program!
This summer our marathoners will begin training for the 2012 Savannah Rock N Roll Marathon. After one month of training the marathoners will be joined by half marathoners who will round out 5 different pace groups ensuring that individuals are training at the appropriate pace and target goals.
Marathon (26.2 miles): Have you completed a half marathon and still want more? Join us for our marathon training program! You should be able to finish 13 miles at the start of the program.
Practice Times: Tuesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 7am
Kickoff Meeting: Tuesday, July 24th at 7:30pm
Start Date: Saturday, July 28th at 7:00am
Target Race: Savannah Rock N Roll Marathon on Saturday, November 3rd

Tuesday nights you will be challenged with a combination of hill work, form drills and speed workouts. Designed to help you run faster and more efficiently, you will be amazed with your improved overall fitness from these challenging and fun sessions.
Saturday mornings we will go the distance. Saturday runs will be done at a slower pace to increase the amount of time on your spent on your feet and to encourage a quick recovery. Long runs will be combined by the half marathoners and will be done with targeted pace groups. Saturday long runs will be crucial to your success in the marathon as they help you to build up cardiovascular, muscular, and skeletal strength for the endurance to finish the entire event.
Pace groups will help you to challenge yourself while giving you a consistent group for training. Your registration information sheet and our first group practice will allow us to appropriately place you in your group. Your schedule will be tailored for your group and you will work together throughout the program to help one another reach the next level in distance and speed. Each pace group will have an assigned volunteer coach with them on the run.
Race Information: The 2nd annual Savannah Rock N Roll Marathon and Half Marathon will be an amazing event for both runners and spectators. Lodging options are listed online with better deals located outside of the city. Participants in the Fleet Feet Sports training programs will be given a code for race registration which will offer a $15 discount for race entry.
